Florence is not only the capital of Tuscany but also a great base for day trips to visit the rest of the region. Indeed, there are many reasons to choose that city for accommodation.
You need to spend there a least two days to visit famous attractions such as Michelangelo’s David and the Uffizi Museum. The city center is mostly pedestrian and easy to explore also with a stroller.
All the main sites are near and if you stay withing the old walls perimeter you do not need a car or taxi.

Last but not least, take all your family to one of the farmers morning markets where they can learn local colorful fruits vegetables and food specialties and taste them. Taste memories sometimes can last longer than images as Marcel Proust taught us.
